We know how important it is to be able to quickly dress and undress your dog. Therefore, our MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® is made of soft and stretchy high-quality material. The MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® has a snug fit to prevent your dog from wiggling out. However, it is important to keep monitoring your dog if the snug fit isn’t too tight. Getting the shirt on and off your dog is simple, so let’s take a look!

Step 1: Roll up the shirt with the middle head opening in your hand. Make sure that the light blue inner layer is facing down. Insert your dog’s head through the opening.

Step 2: Followed by inserting one leg into the provided smaller leg opening and the other leg into the other remaining smaller opening.

Step 3: Now pull the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® over your dog’s body all the way to the back.

Step 4: The lower belly flaps must be pulled between the hind legs towards the upper part near the base of the tail.

Step 5: Secure the two flaps with the snaps/poppers. We advise to close all snaps/poppers to keep the shirt perfectly in place.

Step 6: Take a good look around the legs, neck and tail to see if there is enough room to move and breathe!

Washing instructions:

For longer usage, it is possible that the print of the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® and the label could fade over time. With the washing instructions below, this process can be delayed. Washing, maintaining and handling of delivered items always remains the responsibility of the customer.

  • Always turn inside out for washing.
  • Fasten all press studs before washing.
  • We recommend using a laundry bag.
  • Wash the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® up to a maximum of 90ºC/194ºF.
  • Never put the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® in the dryer! Hang it out and let it air dry.
  • Do not iron directly over the print and never too hot.
  • Do not use bleach or other chemicals to clean the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt®.

Using bleach and other chemicals can cause irritations to your dog’s wound, surgical area, hotspots or more…!

TIP! Little (peeing) accidents can happen while wearing the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt®. To ensure that your dog remains protected, two MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® are often purchased. While one MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® can be washed, the other MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® can be worn. When your dog needs to wear the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® longer than a week, it’s always better to have a back-up shirt!

The MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® is toxic/lead free and is made of:

dogshirt specs

First of all, we want to explain why the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® is fully closed. In many cases, the surgical area for male dogs is very close to the urination area. For instance, with spaying or neuter procedures. To give all kind of dogs the protection they need, regardless of gender or type of surgery, we designed the Medical Pet Shirt® with a closed rear end. In order to be able to walk your dog or to check the wound, you can use the super easy hold-up system!

Alternative to the collar

The Medical Pet Shirts products are a professional alternative to an e-collar. The protective apparel covers and protects the problem area against licking, biting and/or scratching instead of covering the pet’s entire head. By restricting the pet’s head with a collar, sounds are amplified, movement is restricted, and they will bump into furniture. This often results in more stress. That is why we developed an animal-friendly alternative: the Medical Pet Shirts products!

Limits overgrooming

Licking behavior can be caused by several factors, like hot spots, wounds, allergies or skin conditions. Due to excessive licking, the wound or affected area could become larger and even infected. If this area is situated on the torso, the Medical Pet Shirt® could be used to cover and protect this area.

When having hotspots or skin conditions

Covers and protects hot spots, wounds and other skin conditions. In this way, the problem area can heal in complete freedom. Only the best for your pet!

After a medical procedure

Did your pet undergo a medical procedure near the torso? The Medical Pet Shirt® protects wounds and/or sutures on the torso. Thanks to the comfortable fit, the animal can recover in complete freedom. Less stress for a faster recovery!

Protection after neutering

After neutering, aftercare and protection of the surgical area are essential for a good recovery. The traditional collar often causes stress for pets. That is why Medical Pet Shirts has developed an animal-friendly alternative: the Medical Pet Shirt®. This versatile shirt protects the surgical area after neutering/spaying. Prevents pets from licking, scratching or biting the wound or sutures.

Blind buttonhole on the back

You can use the blind buttonhole between the shoulders if you want to insert an IV line that the dog should not be able to reach. Open the buttonhole by cutting it in the middle of the seam. The extra stitching around the buttonhole helps to prevent tearing.

Soft stretch bands & collar fastening

A soft, elastic protective collar around the front and hind legs and around the tail ensures that the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® does not rub and cut into the legs and tail of the dog, but that the dog can move and heal in complete freedom. However, it is important to make sure that the dog is fitted with the right size, and to make sure that the shirt is not too tight.

For dogs where the surgical area and/or dermatological problem runs between the shoulder blades towards the neck, this area needs to be protected as well.  Therefore, the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® is equipped with a longer, soft, elastic neck protective collar.

There are loops on the inside of the shirt. The dog’s collar can be pulled through these loops. That makes it is even more difficult for the dog to squeeze out of the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt®.

Fully closed design & hold-up system

In many cases, the surgical area for the male is very close to the urination area. The shirt is completely closed (regardless of gender) to ensure that the entire torso of every physique is protected. In order to be able to walk the dog or check the surgical area, Medical Pet Shirts has developed a hold-up system. The shirt can be rolled up inside and secured to the chest with a press stud. For the best protection, the shirt must always be closed again after a check or a walk outside.

Blue inner layer & pocket

The interior of the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® is light blue so fluid loss can be checked by the veterinarian or owner. In the event of fluid loss, a sanitary towel can be applied on the inside of the shirt or between the double layer. If necessary, an ice pack can also be inserted between the double layer.

Snaps/poppers for good fit

It is difficult for the dog to open the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® itself because the closure is on the back. However, it is quick, safe and easy for the owner or veterinarian to put on and off the shirt. We advise to close all snaps/poppers to keep the shirt perfectly in place.

Material specifications

The MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® is made from high-quality cotton and a four-way stretch Invista Lycra® fabric that is lightweight, breathable and comfortable like a second skin. This offers maximum freedom of movement and can help to keep the dog warm after surgery. The patented Dutch design, years of experience and continued development means the shirt is fully perfected and adapted to the dog’s anatomy.

At the belly part, there is some extra space to improve air circulation for a faster recovery.

Original MPS®-Product

The MPS® logo is always on the right side of the MPS-Medical Pet Shirt® level with the shoulder. The washing label also has an MPS hologram. Without the yellow logo and the hologram, it is not an original, official product of Medical Pet Shirts.
