MPS® Protective Pet Shirt Dog, Cat & Rabbit
What do the plus sizes (S+ and M+) mean?
The plus sizes (S+ and M+) are specially designed for dogs with a broader build, more fur, or extra weight. These shirts are slightly wider than the regular sizes (S and M).
Why is there a strap with a snap button at the belly side?
This strap with snap button is part of the hold-up system. It’s useful during walks or wound check-ups. The shirt can be rolled inward and secured at the chest using the strap and snap button.
What’s the difference between the red, blue, and green shirts?
These colors are species-specific: blue for dogs, red for cats and green for rabbits.
Key features by color:
The blue dog shirt has a wider neck opening and includes the hold-up system for easy rolling and fastening during walks or wound checks.
The red cat shirt has a narrower neck and a larger tail opening, so it doesn’t need to be removed when the cat uses the litter box.
The green rabbit shirt has leg openings positioned closer together and a larger rear opening so the shirt can stay on when nature calls.
Can the dog shirt stay on during a walk?
Yes, thanks to the hold-up system, the shirt can stay on during walks. Just roll it up on the inside and secure it with the inner strap and snap button at the chest.
What is the reason for not having a hole at the belly part of the shirt?
The shirt intentionally does not have an opening for urination, as the surgical area is often located close to this area. To ensure optimal protection of the entire torso, regardless of a dog’s build or gender, a fully closed design was chosen. This way, the vulnerable area remains completely covered during the recovery period.
Can the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt be washed?
Yes, the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt can be washed at a maximum temperature of 90ºC/194ºF. and can be autoclaved at 121ºC/250ºF (on delicate tissue).
Tip: We recommend purchasing two shirts, so a dog is always protected, even while the other shirt is being washed.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the distance from the neck (near the collar) to the base of the tail. See the size chart or our tutorial videos on the size guide page for further information.
For the rabbit shirt, you can determine the correct size based on the rabbit's weight.
Is it harmful that a cat keeps licking the shirt?
Some cats lick the shirt as part of their washing ritual or because they actually want to lick their wound or stitches. All MPS® products are completely free of lead and toxic substances, so this licking behavior in itself is harmless.
Please note: if a cat continues to lick the shirt for a long time, small holes can appear in the fabric due to the rough tongue. That is usually not a problem, but of course it should not become a large hole through which the wound is still visible or accessible. Monitor a cat closely while wearing the shirt.
Sometimes cats still have to get used to wearing the shirt. If that’s the case, distraction can help. Distract him a bit with a toy or some treats, so that he can focus on something else for a while.
Is the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt also suitable for neutered male cats?
No, the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt is not suitable for use after castration of male cats. Because the shirt is designed in such a way that the cat can continue to use the litter box, the surgical area is not protected after neutering.
There’s extra space around the belly. Is that normal?
Yes, this space promotes air circulation to help wounds heal faster.
What if a dog puts its nose under the shirt and licks or bites the wound?
If a dog can reach under the shirt, it’s likely too big. A proper fit ensures the shirt fits snugly like a second skin, making it difficult for the dog to access the wound. Check here how to choose the right size easily.
How much time does my cat need to get used to the shirt?
Cats usually need some time to get used to the shirt. To start the habituation immediately after the medical procedure, many veterinarians choose to put on the shirt on cats while they are still under anesthesia. When they wake up and slowly recover from the anesthesia, they can already get used to the shirt. How much time a cat needs to get used to the shirt varies from cat to cat.
Cats may freeze a little when they wear the shirt for the first time. Don't be alarmed by this and give them time to get used to it. It can help to distract cats a bit at first with toys or kibble, so they can focus on something else for a while. In this way, cats can experience that they can still move, play, eat and drink.
MPS® Head Cover Dog
Can dogs hear normally when using the Head Cover?
Yes, dogs will still be able to hear normally. Some sounds may be a bit muffled.
Can dogs wear the Head Cover all day?
Yes, dogs can wear the Head Cover all day. This head guard is made of breathable Kooltex® fabric, which ensures good air circulation and optimal comfort.
Note: for certain wounds or infections, it may be wise to take off the Head Cover from time to time. This should be done under adult supervision to ensure the animal can be monitored for excessive head shaking or scratching.
In addition, check regularly:
1. Whether the Head Cover is still good and comfortable (not too tight, not too loose)
2. Whether the material needs to be washed
3. Whether there is blood and/or (wound) fluid on the inside.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the head circumference, neck circumference and the length from the head to the collar to find the right size. See the size chart or tutorial videos on the size guide page for more information.
How to create a snug fit?
There are three adjustable fastenings for a perfect fit: the adjustable strap under the chin, the adjustable strap around the neck and the Velcro® strap on the back of the neck. To secure the Head Cover properly, it is important to use at least two rows of snaps with the two fastening straps. If needed, you can adjust the neck length for a better fit on the head by adjusting the Velcro® strap on the back of the neck. Please note: do not secure the Head Cover too tightly as this can result in breathing and blood circulation problems.

Can the sleeves be used without bandages or dressings?
Yes, the hind leg sleeves can also be used in case of overgrooming or to protect medication or ointments for example.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the length of the inside of the hind leg. See the size chart or tutorial video on our size guide page for more information.
MPS® Protective Top Shirt Dog
What is the pocket at the top of the Top shirt for?

How does the calming effect of the Top shirt work?
The protective Top shirt offers a comfortable pressure around the chest thanks to the adjustable elastic band. This pressure provides a calming effect for most dogs. This can be useful for anxiety and stress, for example during fireworks or thunderstorms.
How are the hind leg sleeves attached to the top shirt?
On the inside of the top shirt there are loops to which the adjustable straps of the hind leg sleeves can be attached.

DRY® Cooling Vest
Can the cooling vest be used for medical purposes?
Yes, the DRY® Cooling Vest is excellent for medical use. It can be used to actively cool dogs with an increased risk of overheating or to keep them cool preventively. Think of:
Short nosed breeds
Older dogs
Dogs with respiratory or heart problems
Dogs in a recovery phase where a stable body temperature is important.
How long does the DRY® Cooling Vest stay cool?
Depending on the humidity level, the vest can stay cool for up to 3 days.
How do I know when to refill the DRY® Cooling Vest?
If the cooling effect diminishes, you can refill the vest with fresh water. Squeeze out all excess water. If the fabric is smooth again, you can refill the vest with water. We recommend controlling the amount of water after 1.5 days.
Does the DRY® Cooling Vest need a refrigerator or freezer?
No, do not put the DRY® Cooling Vest in the refrigerator or freezer. Thanks to the professional cooling technology, hot outside air evaporates the water in the vest. Thanks to the evaporation, the cooling starts. In this way, the vest will cool your dog gradually, contrary to cooling products which you should put in the refrigerator or freezer. The DRY® Cooling Vest provides gradually and continuously cooling.
Why doesn’t the vest always feel cool after a day?
The cooling effect of the vest is created through the evaporation of water. Factors such as temperature, humidity, and air circulation determine how quickly this happens. In warm and dry environments, water evaporates faster, so the vest may need to be reactivated more often. In more humid or cooler conditions, evaporation is slower, and the vest stays active longer—sometimes up to 3 days.
Important: don’t overfill the vest with water and make sure to squeeze it out thoroughly before use. This ensures optimal evaporation and cooling performance.
Reactivating the vest is easy: simply refill it with regular tap water. Within one minute, the vest is ready to go again. Whether you're at home, at a gas station, or even at the airport—you can reactivate it in no time.
MPS® Protective Pet Boot Dog
Can the MPS® Protective Pet Boot also be used indoors?
No, the MPS® Protective Pet Boot is suitable for outdoor walks, not for indoor use.
How is it possible that the inside of the boot feels a bit damp?
Thanks to the water-repellent material, water and dirt cannot get to the inside of the boot. However, dogs can sweat through their paw pads in heat and/or stress. This could make the inside of the boot feel slightly damp.
Can the boot be washed?
Yes, the protective boot can be washed by hand, possibly with mild soap.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the circumference of the “sole” of the dog’s paw and then the length of the inside of the paw to find the correct size. See the size chart or tutorial video on our size guide page for more information.
