A comfortable recovery? A survey to assess the effects of the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt for dogs and cats.
We recently conducted a survey to assess how pets and their owners experience the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt during the recovery process. The results provide valuable insights into the impact of the protective shirt on postoperative care. Discover the findings below.
A even more comfortable recovery for pets
The MPS® Protective Pet Shirt has been used for over 15 years as an animal-friendly alternative to the cone, providing protection after medical procedures, during recovery, and for (skin) conditions. In addition to the positive feedback we receive, we wanted to use an online survey to research how dogs, cats, and their owners experience the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt. The survey revealed that almost all respondents would recommend the shirt to others (98%). Respondents generally prefer the protective shirt over the cone. Additionally, pet owners rated the quality of life of their pets during the use of the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt as 4 out of 5. The survey also showed that dogs and cats could still perform their daily activities. Overall, they could move, eat, drink, sleep, play, and interact with other animals and humans normally. The majority (93.88%) of respondents found that the protective shirt fits their pet perfectly. These findings align with MPS's goal of providing a comfortable recovery for pets.
Better in multiple ways
The survey shows that the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt for dogs and cats is used for young and old, large and small. Various breeds, crossbreeds, sizes, and ages were represented.
Owners seem very satisfied with the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt almost all respondents (98%) would recommend the shirt to others. Respondents generally prefer the protective shirt over the cone. Additionally, surveyed pet owners rated their pet’s quality of life during the use of the shirt as 4 out of 5.
The survey also showed that dogs and cats could still perform their daily activities. They could move, eat, drink, sleep, play, and interact with other animals and humans normally. This is not always the case with the cone, as shown by the earlier study from the University of Sydney and the University of Glasgow. Pets wearing the cone were hindered in their daily activities*. This may explain why most respondents preferred the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt over the cone.
The shirt was mostly used after spaying/neutering, but the versatility of the shirt was reflected in the answers; it was also used after various other medical procedures and for (skin) conditions.
The majority (93.88%) of respondents indicated that the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt fits their pet perfectly. This result aligns with the unique feature of the shirt fitting like a second skin. Since most dogs and cats wore the shirt for at least a week, depending on the nature of the procedure, it is even more important that the fit is good, and the shirt is comfortable.
Conclusion
In summary, it can be concluded that the MPS® Protective Pet Shirt is generally very well received by pet owners and is considered an effective and comfortable solution for their pets' recovery after medical procedures. The recommendation by veterinarians and the positive experiences of users contribute to the popularity and trust in this product.
